Not sure what else I can add to what has already been said regarding what is happening in Haiti. It has been pretty wild how many people have some connection to that struggling country. Our church knows of people who are there on a mission trip right now. Others have either been to Haiti, have family or friends in Haiti, know of people serving in Haiti and the list goes on. It has been encouraging to see how people have responded already to the needs that exist.
Obviously people have different opinions on what has happened and why. There has been a “buzz” about one prominent Christian leader’s remarks to the crisis in Haiti. Again, I don’t know what I could add to all the dialogue, but two things are going through my mind.
One is simply the amount of people who have died. I have a hard time wrapping my brain around that number. How many parents are grieving the loss of children, the children that are mourning the loss of parents, the friends who have been lost…it is hard to really grasp.
Second is this phrase – “break my heart with what breaks yours.” We know that God’s heart must be broken over this. Does my heart break as His does?
