Mexico House Build Team is Set!

1mission_4Our team for our Spring Break House Build Trip to Rocky Point, Mexico is set. We now officially have 14 people who will make up the team that will travel at the end of March.

Our airline tickets have been reserved, travel insurance has been purchased, a van and trailer for our post-flight drive is set and we are in the process of raising funds for the trip. Over the past two Saturdays we have provided concessions for a Karate Tournament and the first game of our Upward Basketball season. We have 7 more weeks of Upward and hope to be able to underwrite some of the trip costs through those efforts.

Several of our team members have also been sending out support letters to those outside of our church family and people are responding with generosity. One of the humbling parts of a mission trip such as this is to experience how many people offer financial and prayer support.

We are looking forward to our experience with 1MISSION as Spring Break week draws closer. Be watching for updates!

Buy a Thirty-One Product, Support our Adoption

Gotcha DayThis weekend, I got a cool message from one of my former students. When my family moved to Indiana to serve at Cedar Creek Church of Christ, Stephanie was in elementary school. Now (just a few years later) she is a mother of two. Stephanie messaged me and said she was thinking about how she could help us as we pursue adoption. Since she is a Thirty-One consultant, she decided to throw us a Thirty-One party!

If you are not familiar with Thirty-One, they sell bags, jewelry, purses, stationary, etc. The website says they “provide fun and functional products that make life easier.” I have never shopped Thirty-One, but my wife has and I know several ladies that are Thirty-One consultants. You can check out more about Thirty-One’s story on their website.

So, here’s how the party works. We have a unique page where you can browse for products and place your order. 25% of the proceeds from the sales will benefit our plans for adoption. We are grateful to Stephanie for putting this together.

Click on the image below to go to our unique Thirty-One page and you can start shopping. Even if you don’t need anything from Thirty-One, we would appreciate your prayers as we move toward adoption.

Angels Shots for Shelter

This post best applies to those who live in or near Wilmington and it has a very quick expiration date.  Syd’s AAU Team, the Cincinnati Angels, is responding to the needs of those affected by the recent tornadoes by sponsoring an Angels Shots For Shelter.

Here’s what the Angels sent out: The Angels will hold a fundraiser to help the recent tornado victims in our area.  Prasco will be donating up to $1,000 for tornado relief efforts.  Our goal is to make 1000 shots during the two training sessions at $1.00 per shot. If you would like to get additional sponsors you are welcome to as we will keep track of each players shots.  We will need to collect the money no later than March 10th so we can present the donations to one of the local relief agencies in the area

Syd will be participating in it on Wed., March  7.  If you would like to donate, you can either sponsor an amount per shot that Syd makes or just a specific dollar amount.  As I said, it has a quick expiration date.  Money needs to be turned in by March 10.
