Buy a Thirty-One Product, Support our Adoption

Gotcha DayThis weekend, I got a cool message from one of my former students. When my family moved to Indiana to serve at Cedar Creek Church of Christ, Stephanie was in elementary school. Now (just a few years later) she is a mother of two. Stephanie messaged me and said she was thinking about how she could help us as we pursue adoption. Since she is a Thirty-One consultant, she decided to throw us a Thirty-One party!

If you are not familiar with Thirty-One, they sell bags, jewelry, purses, stationary, etc. The website says they “provide fun and functional products that make life easier.” I have never shopped Thirty-One, but my wife has and I know several ladies that are Thirty-One consultants. You can check out more about Thirty-One’s story on their website.

So, here’s how the party works. We have a unique page where you can browse for products and place your order. 25% of the proceeds from the sales will benefit our plans for adoption. We are grateful to Stephanie for putting this together.

IMPACT Tailgate Party Video

Last Sunday we had a Tailgate Party for our students. People tailgate before football games, why not before church! We had a good time with some tasty breakfast food, 9 Square (our students love that game), corn hole and even some gift card giveaways.

Dale put some of our pics into a video. Check it out:

Master Provisions Packing Trip

For the past several summers our youth group has partnered with Master Provisions and helped pack clothes for their ministry. We are heading out this weekend to help prepare a shipment to Togo.

Here’s the cool thing – this will be the 500th shipment sent out by Master Provisions.  Here’s what they put on their website:

500th Container Celebration: Togo Party

June 16, 2012 | 11:00am

MASTER Provisions celebrates the shipping of the 500th container. Our “Togo” party will commence at 11:00 by packing the Togo-bound container with the help of volunteers from Wilmington Church of Christ. Skyline Chili of Burlington, KY is sponsoring the shipping of the container and will also be serving delicious Cincinnati Chili for Lunch.

You can check out their ministry on the Master Provisions website.

Tailgating…@ Church!

As we were planning our fall calendar for our students, one of our sponsors had the great idea of doing a tailgate party on Sunday morning.  Rather than meet inside during the Sunday School hour, we met in the parking lot.  We had a grill going with sausage and peppers & onions (smelled great!).  We also had corn hole, more food, a little throwing of the football and a tailgate…which is where our group gathered for the picture.

Our volunteers did a great job getting stuff together.  We had plenty of food, a good turnout of students, good weather (not that we could control that if we wanted) and a great morning.  We even had some adults come out who tried to join the youth group!  It was a great time tailgating.  Definitely something we will do again!

Super Bowl Party Pics

Each year we have Super Bowl parties for our students to watch the big game.  This year we probably had more actual game watchers than ever before.  Usually in the past, by halftime (or even before then), most attenders become disinterested and end up doing other things.  This year, at least at one of the houses, just about everyone stayed engaged…even after the halftime show.

We have posted some pictures from our two different parties.  Click on the link below to check them out.
