Tonight was my first night playing Abble Dabble – guess it is kind of like Words With Friends. Not sure if I really like, but I won …just sayin’.
If you have ever watched the movie Hoosiers, then you know it is the story of the small school that beats the big school in the championship game. The movie is based on the 1954 Indiana state championship game where Milan beat Muncie Central. Now, I’m not old enough to remember that game, but it is a great story. There is now a link on the Indiana High School Athletic Association website that lets you watch the final minutes of the game. Pretty cool to watch.
There is not an embed code for the video, so you have to go to the IHSAA website to see it. It is worth your time.
After winning their final game of the regular season today against Hillsboro, the Clinton-Massie Lady Falcons are winners of the SCOL. The girls had a good regular season, dropping two games in a row on back to back road trips, but won decidedly today to claim the championship.
The playoffs start next week with a game Tuesday night in Springboro. For the weekend, they will enjoy the league title.
Cutting Down the Net
After the victory on Saturday, the Indiana men’s basketball team enters this week’s Associated Press poll ranked at No. 18 and the USA Today/Coaches poll ranked at No. 20. IU earned 462 votes in the AP poll and 171 points in the USA Today/Coaches poll.
Not sure how long it has been since IU has been in top 25, I really like Coach Crean’s comments when the rankings came out: “These players have certainly earned it,” said IU Coach Tom Crean. “We have to continue to stay locked in to our own goals and understand we still have an opportunity to get better. We have to continue to prepare with the same mindset and focus that we have shown thus far this season.”
The Angles 14u team have added the Hershey USJN Tournament to their victory list. They went 7-0 for the weekend beating a Philadelphia team 63-53 in the championship game. They also beat teams from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Scores for the game are as follows:
The Cincinnati Angels Basketball Club traveled to Toledo and won the USJN Tournament there. That’s three tournaments in a row they have won and so far only have 1 loss on the season. Cheryl and I were able to make the drive to see the first two games and Syd played well. Due to an injury she was inserted into the starting line up and did a good job.
The other “win” for our family is that we have a house under contract! It took right at two years to sell Cheryl’s house, but we have a solid contract on that one and we reached an agreement on a home for us over the weekend. We are excited about how God has taken care of things to this point and are grateful for how He has worked. Now, it’s a matter of wading through all the paperwork to sell and buy….but it is exciting! Look forward to putting some pictures up in the future.
