Honoring our Grads

Graduation

Each year we take a few minutes during our Sunday morning service to honor our high school graduates. It’s an exciting time for the seniors and their families as they celebrate the completion of high school.

The last few years I have put together a brief video of our graduates as we start the recognition. Many in our church family don’t know all the graduates personally, so it’s a good way to introduce them. I created it on Animoto and love how easy it is to put together.

Congratulations again to all of our grads!

InstaScavenger Hunt @DownloadYM

This weekend our IMPACT students participated in an InstaScavenger Hunt.  Using smartphones to capture various pictures and videos, they uploaded them to Instagram with the hashtag #impactinsta.  While the concept of the scavenger hunt has been around for years, we had a great time going around town taking pictures under bank signs, of the entire group in a bathroom stall and a video of the chicken dance under the KFC sign.

A few of the pictures are below.  You can search #impactinsta on Instagram to all of them.

I modified a list for our hunt from Download Youth Ministry.  It was a great resource to use and had some fun ideas. (Thanks DYM!)

Syd Reaches 1,000 – Video

Prior to last night’s game (1/22/2014) against Chillicothe, the school recognized Sydney for scoring 1,000 points in her high school career. They presented her with the game ball and gave us a copy of the game. She reached this milestone fairly early in the game so I was able to upload about a four-minute video.

She needed 5 points going into the game to reach 1,000. She got the first two points on a jump shot. The next two came at the free throw line (not see on the video) and the basket that put her over the top was on a driving lay up.

They did stop the game to acknowledge her accomplishment. It was pretty obvious she wasn’t sure what to do, but it was a nice gesture.

She wears #31 for Massie (in blue on the video).

Massie Pride Video (Part 2)

massiefalconsAbout a year ago, I posted a video made by a Clinton-Massie student and alum about Clinton-Massie’s run to the state football championship. As just about everyone in our area knows, the team made it back-to-back state titles this year. They played some strong teams in the playoffs and pulled off a couple come from behind victories to become Div IV defending state champions.

The two guys that made the video last year have come out with a part 2. The community is very supportive of the team and this video is just one example. It looks like they had some fun making it, too.
